Due to the relocation of our external warehouse the books and doctoral dissertations stored there, as well as the entire stock of the library's periodicals, will be unavailable until the beginning of January 2025. Many of our books are still available for loan and current literature can be found on the open shelves.

The Library will be closed on the 29th November 2024 due to an university event.

EDIT - EÖTVÖS LORÁND UNIVERSITY’S INSTITUTIONAL REPOSITORY

Frequently asked question

Why should I register for EDIT?

Registered users can access the My shelf feature, where they can save items, documents, search terms that are important to them; in addition, they can subscribe to collections to receive email notifications of newly uploaded items.

Why EDIT if you have MTMT?

In the Hungarian Scientific Bibliography (Magyar Tudományos Művek Tára, MTMT) only the bibliographic data of the publications are recorded, while EDIT also makes the full text of the documents searchable and accessible.

Why is it useful for researchers to have their full-text publications uploaded to EDIT?

EDIT is ELTE's own institutional repository, into which publications and other digital contents created at ELTE can be uploaded without quantitative restrictions. As a result, the accessibility of research results - as well as their impact and citation - will increase, and knowledge assets of our university will become more widely represented. In the EDIT system, each document gets a unique and permanent identifier  (Handle-identifier, so-called URI ”Universal Resource Identifier”) that can be used as a link to the document. By this link, documents can be accessed at any time, even after their possible relocation. With the help of various repository indexing systems, uploaded documents can become part of the world’s scientific achievements.

How can I upload my scientific publications starting from the MTMT database?

Bibliographic data of publications already included in the scientific bibliography database  (MTMT) can be transferred to EDIT with only a few clicks. It is feasible to record the metadata of the publication in MTMT and to provide the same metadata with full-text access at EDIT. For more details, see the user's guide: http://hdl.handle.net/10831/43724

Why does EDIT offer more to ELTE citizens than other full-text databases (e.g. REAL)?

EDIT is ELTE's institutional repository designed for our contents and according to our own needs. The repository improves the university’s academic reputation at both the national and international levels. EDIT collects research documents, student papers, non-publishing digital objects (and associated metadata) created in the institution in one place and makes them easy to find and retrieve. Access to digital materials can be set as required, from open access for onsite and offsite users to fully restricted one. EDIT consists of collections organized into thematic categories. When designing new categories and collections, administrators take into account the needs of ELTE. Librarians have the knowledge, skills and competencies, such as information management, metadata creation (cataloguing) and archiving, indispensable to design and maintain a repository. As a result of the continuous expansion and improvement of the content and services of the institutional repository, ELTE libraries can not only provide external information to the members of the university, but also transmit documents born in the institution to the world.

Qualified Repository: what does it mean?

In order for operators and users to ensure that the services of the repository are of high quality, i.e. reliable, long-term secure, and metadata is shared via standard protocols, a multi-stage rating system has been developed. Repositories that meet all the requirements are entitled to use the title Qualified Repository awarded by the Repository Assessment Committee of MTMT. EDIT is a qualified repository.

I do not have access to the selected document in EDIT. What can I do?
