Self-service scanning You can digitalize documents in a self-service manner, due to the special book scanners. Using the scanners, up to 30 pages per minute can be scanned without the need to stretch the books on a glass plate, thus saving the spine. The software automatically straightens the pages after laser scanning. The device enables digitisation of documents up to A3 size and has a character recognition function so that scanned content can be saved not only as images but also as editable text.
Self-service printing and photocopying By purchasing a print & copy card, you can copy and print independently from the standing terminal. You can buy print & copy card at different values and with different discounts at the information desk (ground floor). The terminal (in the Lobby) allows you to make monochrome (grayscale) and color copies locally.
You can study the documents belonging to a special collection only locally in the Research Room with a valid borrower’s card, after filling out a research statement. Research statement If a facsimile or a digital copy of the requested document is also available, the original document may be searched only with a permission.
In the reading rooms with a visitor’s card you can use for free all our printed and electronic documents of the basic collection (published after 1801) of our books placed on the stocks or on the open shelf; and a collection of periodicals containing approximately 12,000 titles. If you have a borrower’s card, you can also borrow an external battery (power bank) for charging mobile phones, tablets, and laptops from the information service staff for the duration of your stay in the library. Special collections can only be searched with a borrower’s card and a permit, after filling in a research statement. You can find further information about using them locally here.
